About the Event
You are invited to celebrate the life + legacy of Marsha P. Johnson with us in honor of The Trans Day of Remembrance!
An interactive exhibition titled “Marsha, Marsha, Marsha” by artivist Kin Folkz opens at The Queer Healing Arts Center in Oakland, California. The exhibition celebrates Trans Day of Remembrance by uplifting the life of Marsha “Pay It No Mind” Johnson, one of the most important icons in LGBTQIA+ history. Marsha P. Johnson, a Black trans woman, and champion for transgender rights was a primary force behind the 1969 Stonewall Riots that energized the LGBTQ+ movement. Artivist Kin Folkz’s “Marsha, Marsha, Marsha” interactive art exhibition takes the viewer on a journey into Marsha P. Johnson’s trans activism and resistance through music, video, paintings, digital art, fabric art, and clay pieces.
