MISSION + BACKGROUND      This empowering gathering is part of the Racism Under The Rainbow™ community forum created over 6 years ago by Kin Folkz (nee Monica Anderson of Spectrum Queer Media) and Evelyn Carmack to share effective strategies and build skills to end Anti-Blackness and Implicit Bias in the LGBTQ+ Community. This latest edition, typically presented in a variety of brick-and-mortar spaces, marks the second time that this impactful series of LGBTQ+ wellness events, anti-racism skills + equity building workshops, town hall conversations, and insightful, interactive breakout sessions will be experienced in a virtual space with an international audience.

OBJECTIVES      Co-presented by Spectrum Queer Media and The Queer Healing Arts Center, this 2-day 2022 Racism Under The Rainbow™ conference with sessions (k-3rd grade) (4th-8th grade) (9th grade - adults):

  • highlights the LGBTQ+ communities which are most vulnerable to societal inequities;
  • outlines ways to support marginalized LGBTQ+ communities (including a call to action: (TheBlackFlip.com);
  • shares contributing and preexisting factors that lead to the disproportionate risks and abuses faced by marginalized LGBTQ+ people of all ages; and
  • envisions sustainable equity practices and resources that could become incorporated as part of our healthy collective “new normal”.
